Indian Point’s retirement will have a significant impact on local communities in Northern Westchester County. Holtec is committed to working with local elected officials around their site re-use ideas, as well as ways to bring replacement revenues to the area.
Holtec’s goals are aligned with local elected officials, with all parties wanting the plant safely decommissioned and the land put to productive use. Holtec is committed to working with the Buchanan and Cortlandt communities to better understand their re-use ideas and the timeframe involved, so the company can help bring replacement revenues to the municipalities and school district much sooner than previously thought.
As part of the agreement between the Entergy and Holtec, Holtec will begin the decommissioning process promptly upon taking ownership and will provide job opportunities for more than 300 current Indian Point employees who want to remain in the region and continue to work at the site.
